Billings, MT -- National Right to Work Committee® spokesman Dennis Fusaro paid a visit to Billings today to unveil a new television ad produced by the 2.2 million-member grassroots group that will begin airing throughout Montana next week.
Mr. Fusaro spoke at the Holiday Inn Grand this morning.
The National Right to Work Committee® is running the ad as part of a nationwide media campaign to persuade Montana Congressman Dennis Rehberg and several other Congressmen to follow through on their public promises to cosponsor the National Right to Work Act (H.R. 1109).
The National Right to Work Act would end forced unionism nationwide by removing the provision in federal law that authorizes union officials to confiscate union dues from workers as a condition of employment.
Congressman Rehberg pledged during his 2000 campaign to “cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on” the National Right to Work Act. But since his arrival in Washington, despite strong support for the bill from the citizens in his district, Mr. Rehberg has yet to follow through on his promise.
“Frankly, I’m baffled as to why Congressman Rehberg hasn’t yet kept the promise he made to his constituents,” Mr. Fusaro said.
“Nearly 8 of 10 Montanans support this legislation,” Mr. Fusaro continued. “Why would Congressman Rehberg choose to ignore the will of the people who sent him to Washington? It is time for him to honor his pledge.”
Nationwide polls show Americans oppose forced union affiliation by a more than three-to-one margin.
A National Right to Work act would free the more than 51,000 workers in Montana who toil under forced-unionism laws from having to financially support a union as a condition of employment.
(A fact sheet follows providing additional information on how federal labor law gives union officials the ability to force nearly 17,000,000 employees nationwide to bankroll a union to keep their jobs.)
