FOR RELEASE: August 6, 2002
Dear Editor:
On Thursday and Friday, August 8 and 9, Dennis Fusaro, spokesman for the 2.2 million-member National Right to Work Committee®, will hold two press conferences in Helena and Billings to unveil the grassroots group’s upcoming ad campaign calling on Congressman Dennis Rehberg to keep his campaign promise to cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on legislation to end forced unionism.
The Helena press conference will take place at 10 AM Thursday at the Holiday Inn Express, 701 Washington Street, Helena, Montana. The Billings press conference will take place at 10 AM Friday at the Holiday Inn Grand, 5500 Midland Road, Billings, Montana.
TV advertisements that will run throughout Montana are part of a $1.7 million nationwide media and direct mail campaign initiated by the National Right to Work Committee® in July.
The Montana ad will be previewed at both the Helene and Billings press conferences. For directions to either, see the following page.
The National Right to Work Committee®’s aim is to boost Congressional support for the National Right to Work Act (H.R. 1109), which would end forced unionism nationwide by removing the provisions in federal law that authorize union officials to confiscate dues from workers as a condition of employment.
Dennis Rehberg pledged to “cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on” the National Right to Work Act during his 2000 campaign for Congress. But during his time in Washington, despite strong support for the bill from nearly 80% of his constituents, Mr. Rehberg has failed to follow through.
It is vital to the success of this crucial reform that every Congressman who pledged to cosponsor the National Right to Work Act do so immediately.
My staff and I hope you will cover this press conference. We will be in touch with you soon to follow up.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Andersen
Director of Communication
