Cincinnati Advisory

FOR RELEASE: August 8, 2002

Dear Editor:

On Monday and Tuesday, August 12 and 13, Doug Stafford, Director of Membership for the 2.2 million-member National Right to Work Committee®, will hold press conferences in Cincinnati and Dayton to unveil the grassroots group’s upcoming ad campaign calling on 8th District Congressman John Boehner to keep his campaign promise to cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on legislation to end forced unionism.

The Cincinnati press conference will take place at 10 AM August 12 at the Hyatt Regency, 151 West Fifth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio. The Dayton press conference will take place at 10 AM August 13 at the Dayton Marriott, 1414 S. Patterson Boulevard, Dayton, Ohio.

TV advertisements that will run throughout the 8th District are part of a $1.7 million nationwide media and direct mail campaign initiated by the National Right to Work Committee® in July.

The 8th District ad will be previewed at the Cincinnati and Dayton press conferences. For directions, see the following page.

The National Right to Work Committee®’s aim is to boost Congressional support for the National Right to Work Act (H.R. 1109), which would end forced unionism nationwide by removing the provisions in federal law that authorize union officials to confiscate dues from workers as a condition of employment.

Congressman Boehner pledged to “cosponsor and seek roll-call votes on” the National Right to Work Act during his last three campaigns for Congress, and has cosponsored during past sessions. But Congressman Boehner is currently refusing to either cosponsor the bill or allow hearings and a vote in the House Education and the Workforce Committee that he chairs, and where the bill is pending.

It is vital to the further progress of this crucial reform that Mr. Boehner immediately schedule hearings and a Committee vote on the National Right to Work Act.

My staff and I hope you will cover this press conference. We will be in touch with you soon to follow up.

Sincerely,

Kirsten Andersen

Director of Communication
