Card check is exactly how the IBEW local 80 in Norfolk Virginia got into our work site by handing out cards but said it was only to see how many people are interested in joining the union. Rome research inc had the government contract at Northwest Naval facility so they said they would just except the union as our representive and we did’nt even get a chance to vote if we wanted this union or not. When I brought this up to the president of the IBEW local 80 president he even said that if I did not join the union I would be without a job. I told him lets rock and roll then because I would never belong to this union now. that was about five years ago and I am still here but would like to get this union out since they don’t even have 50 percent of our personel in the union. The only reason the company was so eager for the union to come in was so they could reopen the contract with the government so they could get more money.
